Virtual Writing Group
The Viscereality Virtual Writing Group is a collaborative space for developing papers that expand the conceptual basis of the project.
Our current focus is how "Abstract Expressions of Affect" can be implemented as an immersive 3D particle system in VR.
What We Explore
We use the group to think through how emotional dimensions could be mapped onto an abstract particle state-space in VR.
That includes questions about motion dynamics, swarm formations, synchronization, visual rhythm, density, and the aesthetic affordances unique to immersive virtual media.
Who Should Reach Out
We welcome researchers, writers, VR builders, artists, and theorists who want to help articulate, model, or prototype how affect can be expressed in spatially dynamic particle systems.
When you write to us, it helps to briefly describe your background, what you want to contribute, and whether your interest is mainly conceptual, technical, or collaborative writing.
Why This Matters for Viscereality
This writing work extends the project's larger aim of connecting bodily signals, immersive form, and altered experiential states.
Rather than treating affect as a fixed icon or label, we are interested in whether it can be rendered as a navigable field of abstract relations in VR, expressed through the coordinated behavior of particles and swarms.
